E is for Escrow
“You mean crows?”
“No, I mean escrows.”
“Is this like the ‘possum’ and ‘opossum’ thing – different words, same thing?”
“No, they are very much dissimilar.”
“Riiight, right. So another animal altogether?”
“No, not an animal at all.”
“But…”
“Not an animal, Dad.”
“Riight, right. So tell me again, what do you actually do?”
“I manage escrows.”
“I see, so…you’re telling me that these crows carry parchments, with deeds on, between people across the country?”
“That is not what I’m telling you. Not at all.”
“Well, wouldn’t that be good though! Little beady eyes and those little grippy feet holding onto the paper, zooming around…”
“Do you not think that would be difficult to manage?”
“I suppose you could…what do you call it…geocode them or something? Put them online?”
“Like a drone?”
“Yes! Yes, like a drone. Or…a Crone! See? Like a cross between a crow and a drone!”
“I’m not sure if…”
“Oh! Then it really would be an e-scrow, ‘e’ like an email and a crow! Very good, very good. And how is Lucy?”
