Z is for Zebras

“It’s because flies find it difficult to land on us.”

“Oh, I see – well that makes a lot of sense now.”

“Does it?”

“No. Not at all.”

“Well why did you say it did?”

“Fine, tell me more.”

“Apparently, it’s an optical illusion for the flies. They get all confused when they fly towards us and think we are a set of skinny black lines and not a whole creature. So they can’t really figure out what to do with us. Isn’t that neat?”

“That is, actually, interesting.”

“And another thing…”

“Uh huh…”

“Did you know we directly help with plant regrowth in desert areas, when he have our dust baths? When we make these indents in the ground, all these plants grow up around the disturbed earth! Neat, right?”

“Well well.”

“We are pretty great, I’d say.”
